UNICUS SCRAPED SURFACE HEAT EXCHANGER
CORRUGATED TUBE HEAT EXCHANGER ( FOOD / PHARMA / CHEMICAL)
For more than three decades HRS & FUNKE has specialised in the development and manufacture of heat exchangers with up to 2000 m2 heat exchanger surface for all current industrial applications and designs.
In the area of shell and tube heat exchangers HRS FUNKE has a mature product range of special models for almost all requirements in Oil & Gas, FOOD, Industrial, Process & Chemical Application.
A heat exchanger is an unfired vessel, in which, separated by a thin wall, two media are streaming without mixing themselves. If there is a certain temperature-difference, the heat willl be exchanged. Like the sketch shows, one media streams in the shellside and the second in the tubeside. The flow through the shellside is steered by means of baffles, that preferably generates much crossflow against the tube-bundle. The form and spacing of the baffles are fitted to the application-case. According to usefulness, velocity and pressure-loss, the flow through the tubes is designed in one- or multipass.

From insignificant radiation losses refrained, the supplied heat-quantity is like the handed over heat-quantity. However, an effective heat-exchange can only take place with existence of a sufficient temperature-difference. The bigger the temperature-difference is, the more inferior can be the required heat-transfer-surface. This will lead to a compact apparatus-design.
The heat-transfer-performance of a heat exchanger is the product from the middle logarithmic temperature-difference, the heat-transfer-surface and the heat-transfer-coefficient. The heat-transfer-coefficient mainly depends on the flow-characteristics of the media, that means, it depends on construction-characteristics. On the other hand the heat exchanger-supplier must have available a wide application-knowledge regarding the thermodynamic properties of particular media corresponding to pressures and temperatures. This involves also the topics fouling-factors and material-compatibility (keyword: hole-grub-corrosion).
The calculation and design of FUNKE-heat exchangers takes place with world-wide leading programs (for example HTRI, Heat Transfer Research Institute, USA) as well as with self-developed software, that is already applied internationally.
